‘Life is made of moments, make sure you create meaningful ones, no matter how big or small’.

Travelling to Japan, seeing its beauty and discovering its culture is an incredible privilege. It is without a doubt my favourite place on earth and every trip there has been life changing and deeply felt.

There, I always experience meaningful moments of life, moments of true peace, of slowing down, of being in the here and now, of feeling grounded and aligned with myself by taking the time to notice not only what is happening outwards but also inwards.

Moments is a small curation of beautiful Japanese objects and crafts inspired by the concept of Itchigo Itchie, as a reminder to cherish and make the most of every moment of life. The term is usually associated with tea ceremony where the host aims to create a memorable and unique experience to be treasured by their guests.

My wish is to introduce and share with you parts of the Japanese culture that I have grown to cherish but also for you to experience every day mindful moments through the collection. Moments that will allow you to pause, breathe, unwind, reflect and rest.

‘Each piece will be an invitation to create serene relaxing daily rituals inspiring you to intentionally slow down, feel grounded and take time to connect with yourself’.

Since Japan is playing such an important role in creating this curation, as well as having a huge impact on my life, I wrote and designed a 350 page travel guide. 'Moments in Japan' contains all my recommendations to enjoy memorable experiences such as tea ceremonies, ceramic workshops, sumo tournament, but also some delicious restaurants, my favourite secret places, outstanding traditional stays, budget friendly accommodations, incredible onsen locations, beautiful remote destinations, and last but not least some practical advice and cultural etiquettes.

Moments founder

I am an abstract ink and watercolour painter influenced by two of the main characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic: Kanso - simplicity and Seijaku - tranquility. My aspiration for a slower more mindful way of life, not only led me to travel to and exhibit my art in Japan, but also guided me to follow a slow intuitive creative process where every brush stroke reflects my state of mind and each movement becomes a meditative gesture.

My admiration for the Japanese culture and aesthetic, my passion for art, craftsmanship and design, my love for travel and photography, but also my wish for a more fulfilled life, after being given a second chance at living it, inspired me to follow my dreams and create Moments.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me,

Emilie
